Ingredients

  • 9 lasagna noodles
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup sliced pepperoni
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 pound Italian sausage
  • 3 cups marinara sauce
  • 1 cup ricotta cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh basil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • to taste salt and pepper
  • Olive oil for cooking

Instructions

  1. Prep Work:
    • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
    • Cook lasagna noodles according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  2. Brown the Meats:
    • In a large skillet, heat a drizzle of olive oil over medium heat.
    • Add the ground beef and Italian sausage, season with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.
    • Cook until browned. Drain excess fat.
  3. Assemble the Lasagna:
    • In a greased baking dish, spread a layer of marinara sauce.
    • Place three lasagna noodles on top.
    • Spread a layer of ricotta cheese, followed by half of the beef and sausage mixture, a handful of mozzarella cheese, and a layer of pepperoni slices.
    • Repeat layers: sauce, noodles, ricotta, meat, mozzarella, and pepperoni.
    • Top with remaining noodles, sauce, the rest of the mozzarella, Parmesan cheese, and extra pepperoni.
  4. Bake:
    • Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes.
    • Remove foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
  5. Serving:
    • Let the lasagna cool for at least 10 minutes.
    • Garnish with fresh basil before serving.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, add chopped onions and bell peppers when browning the meat.
  • Use a combination of cheeses like provolone or cheddar for a richer taste.
  • Allow the lasagna to rest before cutting to help it hold its shape.
