Description

Delicious and fun Mardi Gras Alligator Cookies made with green candy melts and Nutter Butter cookies.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup Green Candy Melts
  • 12 pieces Nutter Butter Cookies
  • 1 cup Candy Eye Sprinkles
  • 5 pieces White Heart Sprinkles
  • 1 cup Crown Sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Begin by placing your green candy melts in a microwave-safe bowl. Heat them in the microwave at 50% power for 2-3 minutes, stirring every 30 seconds until the mixture is smooth and creamy.
  2. Once your candy melts are ready, take a Nutter Butter cookie and quickly dip it into the melted green coating. Ensure the cookie is fully submerged and evenly coated.
  3. After dipping, carefully place each coated cookie onto a sheet of parchment paper. Allow the dipped Mardi Gras Alligators to sit for about 10-15 minutes, or until the green candy coating has completely hardened.
  4. While the coating is still slightly warm and tacky, grab your candy eye sprinkles and place two on each cookie. Add five white heart sprinkles and then top off with a crown sprinkle.
  5. Allow the decorated cookies to sit undisturbed for an additional 20-30 minutes to ensure that the candy coating is completely dry and secure.

Notes

  • Green Candy Melts can be substituted with white chocolate or other colored melts if desired.
  • Nutter Butter Cookies can be replaced with other cookies like vanilla wafers, but this may alter the flavor profile.
  • Candy Eye Sprinkles can be substituted with chocolate chips or small round candies.
  • Small marshmallows or mini M&Ms could be alternatives for white heart sprinkles.
  • Crown Sprinkles can be skipped or replaced with colored sugar if unavailable.
