- 1/2 cup cornstarch
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup rice vinegar
- 2 tablespoons hoisin sauce
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- Green onions, for garnish
- Sesame seeds, for garnish
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, coat the diced chicken in cornstarch and let it sit for about 15 minutes.
- Heat vegetable oil in a frying pan over medium-high heat.
- Carefully toss in the chicken pieces and fry until golden brown and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes.
- Remove the chicken and set aside on a paper towel-lined plate.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together soy sauce, sugar, rice vinegar, hoisin sauce, garlic, ginger, and red pepper flakes.
- In the same pan, pour the sauce mixture and bring to a gentle simmer.
- Add the fried chicken back into the pan and coat it evenly with the sauce for another 2-3 minutes.
- Garnish with green onions and sesame seeds before serving.
