- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 3/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 oz unsweetened chocolate, melted and cooled
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 3 large eggs
- 1 cup heavy whipping cream
- 2 tbsp powdered sugar
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- Optional garnish: chocolate shavings
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). In a bowl, mix flour, softened butter, and sugar until a soft dough forms. Press the dough evenly into the bottom of a 9×9-inch baking pan.
- Bake for about 15–18 minutes, until lightly golden. Let the crust cool completely before adding the filling.
- Melt the unsweetened chocolate gently using a microwave or double boiler. Stir until smooth, then set aside to cool slightly.
- In a mixing bowl, beat the softened butter and sugar together for several minutes until the mixture becomes light and fluffy.
- Add the melted chocolate and vanilla extract. Mix until smooth and glossy.
- Beat in the eggs one at a time, mixing for about 2–3 minutes after each addition. The mixture will gradually become thicker and incredibly silky.
- Spread the chocolate filling evenly over the cooled crust.
- Place the pan in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours.
- In a chilled bowl, whip the heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla until soft peaks form. Spread the whipped cream over the chilled chocolate layer.
- Sprinkle chocolate shavings on top if desired. Slice into squares and serve cold for the best texture.
