Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 and 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 and 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened (for frosting)
  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (for frosting)
  • Green food coloring
  • Red, white, and gold sugar pearls
  • Edible glitter (optional)
  • Holly leaf icing decorations or fondant

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Cupcakes: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a muffin tin with cupcake liners.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a separate large bowl, cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  5. Gradually mix in the flour mixture, alternating with the milk, beginning and ending with the flour mixture. Mix until just combined.
  6. Divide the batter evenly among the cupcake liners, filling each about 2/3 full.
  7. Bake for 18-20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  8. Allow the cupcakes to cool in the tin for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  9. Make the Frosting: In a large bowl, beat the softened butter until creamy.
  10. Gradually add the powdered sugar, beating until smooth.
  11. Mix in the vanilla extract and heavy cream, beating until the frosting is light and fluffy.
  12. Add green food coloring until you reach the desired shade, mixing well.
  13. Decorate the Cupcakes: Using a star tip, pipe the green frosting onto the cooled cupcakes in a circular pattern to resemble a wreath.
  14. Decorate with red, white, and gold sugar pearls to mimic berries.
  15. If available, use holly leaf icing decorations or shape holly leaves from green fondant and add to the wreaths.
  16. Sprinkle edible glitter for an extra festive touch.

Notes

  • Ensure all ingredients, especially the butter, are at room temperature for smoother mixing.
  • Sifting the powdered sugar before adding it to the frosting helps achieve a lump-free texture.
  • Adjust the consistency of the frosting with extra cream or powdered sugar as needed.
  • Experiment with other edible decorations, like small candies or edible flowers, for a personalized touch.
