Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch pan, lining it with parchment paper for easy removal.
- In a medium saucepan, melt 1/2 cup unsalted butter and stir in 1 cup dark brown sugar over medium heat until bubbling for 3–4 minutes. Slowly whisk in 1/2 cup heavy cream and 1 tsp sea salt, then remove from heat and let cool slightly.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together 1/2 cup melted unsalted butter, 1 cup granulated sugar, and 2 eggs until light and glossy. Add 1 tsp pure vanilla extract.
- Sift 3/4 cup cocoa powder, 1/2 cup flour, 1/4 tsp baking powder, and 1/4 tsp salt over the wet mixture and fold gently until just combined.
- If desired, fold in toasted walnuts and dark chocolate chips.
- Spread the brownie batter evenly in the prepared pan, drizzle the warm caramel over the top, and swirl with a knife.
- Bake for 30–35 minutes until the edges are set, then let cool completely in the pan before slicing into squares.
