Description
Delicious crispy cheesy potato balls made with shredded mozzarella and various spices.
Ingredients
- 4 medium-sized potatoes, peeled and boiled
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- Salt to taste
- Black pepper to taste
- Chopped chives or parsley for garnish
- Oil for frying
Instructions
-
Mash the boiled potatoes in a large bowl until smooth. Season with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.
-
Mix the shredded cheese into the mashed potatoes until evenly distributed.
-
Take a small portion of the potato mixture and form it into a ball (about 1.5 inches in diameter). Repeat until all the mixture is used.
-
Roll each ball lightly in all-purpose flour to coat, dip into the beaten eggs, and finally roll in breadcrumbs until well-coated.
-
Heat oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat. Fry the potato balls in batches until golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes per batch. Use a slotted spoon to remove the balls and let them drain on a paper towel-lined plate.
-
Sprinkle chopped chives or parsley over the cooked potato balls for extra flavor and presentation.
Notes
- Use a mix of cheeses like cheddar or Monterey Jack for varied flavors.
- Add chili flakes or herbs for a spicy or aromatic twist.
- Serve with a spicy mayo or sour cream dip for enhanced flavor.
- If you prefer baking over frying, preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and bake the coated balls for about 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
