Description

Delicious crispy cheesy potato balls made with shredded mozzarella and various spices.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 medium-sized potatoes, peeled and boiled
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt to taste
  • Black pepper to taste
  • Chopped chives or parsley for garnish
  • Oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Mash the boiled potatoes in a large bowl until smooth. Season with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.

  2. Mix the shredded cheese into the mashed potatoes until evenly distributed.

  3. Take a small portion of the potato mixture and form it into a ball (about 1.5 inches in diameter). Repeat until all the mixture is used.

  4. Roll each ball lightly in all-purpose flour to coat, dip into the beaten eggs, and finally roll in breadcrumbs until well-coated.

  5. Heat oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat. Fry the potato balls in batches until golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes per batch. Use a slotted spoon to remove the balls and let them drain on a paper towel-lined plate.

  6. Sprinkle chopped chives or parsley over the cooked potato balls for extra flavor and presentation.

Notes

  • Use a mix of cheeses like cheddar or Monterey Jack for varied flavors.
  • Add chili flakes or herbs for a spicy or aromatic twist.
  • Serve with a spicy mayo or sour cream dip for enhanced flavor.
  • If you prefer baking over frying, preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and bake the coated balls for about 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
