Description
A delightful and easy dessert made with layers of creamy whipped cream and soft vanilla wafers.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 1 cup confectioners’ sugar
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 3 boxes vanilla wafers
- 1 cup milk
- Fresh fruit (such as bananas or strawberries) for layering, optional
- Chocolate shavings or sprinkles for garnish, optional
Instructions
- Prepare the Whipped Cream:
In a large mixing bowl, combine the heavy cream, confectioners’ sugar, and vanilla extract. Using a hand mixer or stand mixer, beat the mixture until stiff peaks form. - Dip the Wafers:
Pour the milk into a shallow dish. Quickly dip each vanilla wafer into the milk, one at a time, to slightly soften them. - Layer the Cake:
On a flat serving platter, spread a thin layer of the whipped cream to act as a base. Place a single layer of milk-dipped vanilla wafers over the whipped cream. Spread another layer of whipped cream over the wafers. If using, add a layer of sliced fresh fruit on top of the whipped cream. Repeat the layers until all ingredients are used, finishing with a layer of whipped cream on top. - Decorate:
Use the remaining whipped cream to pipe decorative rosettes or swirls on top of the cake. If desired, garnish with chocolate shavings or sprinkles. - Chill:
Cover the cake loosely with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or overnight, to allow the flavors to meld and the wafers to soften.
Notes
- Ensure the whipped cream is properly chilled for easier whipping.
- For extra flavor, consider adding a teaspoon of almond extract to the whipped cream.
- Slice the cake with a sharp knife for clean edges, wiping it clean between cuts.
- Customize the cake by adding different flavored wafers or pudding layers.
