Description

A delicious cinnamon butter cake topped with a sweet glaze.


Ingredients

  • ½ cup salted butter (melted and cooled slightly)
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • ⅓ cup light brown sugar (packed)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 ½ teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 ¼ cups buttermilk
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 4 teaspoons baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¾ cup salted butter (at room temperature)
  • 1 cup brown sugar (packed)
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 ½ cups powdered sugar
  • 1 tablespoon butter (melted)
  • 23 tablespoons milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350F degrees. Grease 9×13-inch baking dish. Set aside.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk the melted butter and sugars together until well combined.
  3. Whisk in the eggs and vanilla until combined.
  4. Add the buttermilk and whisk in until combined.
  5. Stir in the flour, baking powder, and salt just until combined.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared pan. Set aside.
  7. To make the filling, add butter, light brown sugar, all-purpose flour, and ground cinnamon to a medium bowl. Beat until well combined.
  8. Drop the cinnamon filling by small spoonfuls (teaspoon-sized scoops) over the cake batter. Do not swirl.
  9. Bake the cake for about 25-35 minutes, until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  10. To make the glaze, whisk together powdered sugar, melted butter, milk and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract in a bowl. To make it thicker, add more powdered sugar and to make it thinner, add more milk.
  11. Drizzle the glaze over the warm cake.
