- 1 cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 cups chocolate chips or chunks
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a 9×13-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, melt the butter and let it cool slightly. Stir in the brown sugar and granulated sugar until smooth.
- Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each. Stir in the vanilla extract.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
- Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until fully combined.
- Fold in the chocolate chips or chunks, saving a handful to press on top.
- Spread the dough evenly into the prepared pan and press the reserved chocolate chips on top.
- Bake for 25 to 30 minutes until the top is golden and the center is just slightly underdone.
- Let the bars cool in the pan for at least 20 minutes before removing and slicing.
Notes
- For a fun variation, add nuts or a pinch of sea salt on top before baking.
