Description
A delicious and easy-to-make casserole combining croissants, cream cheese, and blueberries.
Ingredients
Scale
- 6 large croissants, cut into chunks
- 1 cup fresh blueberries
- 8 oz cream cheese, cut into small cubes
- 4 large eggs
- 1 cup milk
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 tablespoon powdered sugar (optional, for serving)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish. This ensures the casserole lifts easily once baked.
- Cut the croissants into large chunks and spread half of them across the bottom of the dish. Their flaky layers will absorb the custard beautifully.
- Scatter half of the blueberries and half of the cream cheese cubes over the croissants. Repeat with the remaining croissants, blueberries, and cream cheese.
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, heavy cream, sugar, vanilla extract, and cinnamon until smooth.
- Slowly pour the custard mixture over the croissant layers. Make sure all pieces are lightly coated. Let the casserole sit for about 10 minutes so the croissants can absorb the mixture.
- Place the dish in the oven and bake for about 35–40 minutes. The top should turn lightly golden while the center sets.
- Allow the casserole to cool slightly before serving. Dust with powdered sugar if desired. Each scoop of Blueberry Cream Cheese Croissant Casserole should reveal creamy pockets and bursts of blueberry flavor.
Notes
- Use slightly stale croissants. They absorb the custard better and prevent the casserole from becoming soggy.
- Fresh blueberries give the brightest flavor, but frozen berries can work as well. Add them directly from frozen.
- Cut the cream cheese into small cubes so it melts evenly throughout the casserole.
- Letting the casserole rest for a few minutes after baking helps it set and makes serving easier.
- For extra texture, sprinkle a small amount of sliced almonds on top before baking.
