Description

Enjoy these unique garlic butter candles served with bread for a delightful dipping experience.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) salted butter
  • 2 Tablespoons minced roasted garlic
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 2 (6-inch) beeswax candle wicks
  • 2 (6 ounce) disposable cups
  • 4 clothes pins
  • 1 whole loaf bread (Italian or rustic style)
  • 56 rosemary sprigs

Instructions

  1. In a small saucepan, melt 1 cup (2 sticks) salted butter with 2 Tablespoons minced roasted garlic and 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning over medium heat, stirring until hot and fragrant. Set aside to cool slightly, but not enough to harden.
  2. While the butter is cooling, prepare 2 (6 ounce) disposable cups with 2 (6-inch) beeswax candle wicks, using clothes pins to secure the wick in the center of the cup.
  3. Pour the melted butter into each cup, making sure not to cover the wick. You’ll be putting about ½ cup melted butter in each cup so it will not go all the way to the top.
  4. Place the butter cups in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours (up to overnight) to harden.
  5. Once hardened, gently squeeze the cup from the bottom to pop the solid butter out, or cut the side of the cup to remove the butter candle if necessary.
  6. Place the disposable cups over 1 whole loaf of bread where you’d like to serve the candles.
  7. Using a sharp bread knife, cut around the cups into the bread and pull out the middle to create a round cup-sized hole, ensuring not to cut down to the bottom of the bread to leave a layer to soak up melted butter.
  8. Place the butter candles into the holes made in your bread and surround them with rosemary sprigs to fill any extra space. Trim the wick if it seems too long.
  9. Light the candles, allow the butter to melt, and tear off pieces of bread to dip into the melted garlic butter. Enjoy!
