A delicious recipe for sweet and sour meatballs that the whole family will love.

- 26 ounces frozen homestyle beef meatballs
- ½ cup packed light brown sugar
- ½ cup apple cider vinegar
- ⅓ cup ketchup
- 1 tablespoon non-alcoholic Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tablespoon low sodium soy sauce
- 2 teaspoons minced garlic
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 medium red bell pepper, cut into 1” pieces
- 1 medium green bell pepper, cut into 1” pieces
- 1 cup yellow onion, cut into 1” pieces
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
- 1 cup pineapple chunks in 100% juice (reserve ⅓ cup pineapple juice in a small bowl)
- Cooked white rice, brown rice, or noodles, for serving
- Toasted sesame seeds, for garnish
- Sliced green onions (scallions), for garnish
Instructions
- In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat.
- Add the red and green bell peppers and yellow onion. Sauté until they are soft.
- In a bowl, combine brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, minced garlic, and pineapple juice. Mix well.
- Add the frozen meatballs to the skillet and pour the sauce over them. Stir to coat.
- Cover and cook for about 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the meatballs are heated through.
- In a small bowl, mix cornstarch with equal parts of water to make a slurry. Add it to the skillet to thicken the sauce.
- Serve over cooked rice or noodles and garnish with sesame seeds and sliced green onions.
Notes
- For a spicier version, add sliced jalapeños.
- This dish can be made in a slow cooker for convenience.
