Description

A hearty chili perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb Ground Beef (can substitute with ground turkey or chicken)
  • 1 medium Onion (yellow or sweet onion)
  • 1 cup Bell Peppers (any color)
  • 2 cloves Garlic (minced)
  • 14 oz Diced Tomatoes (canned)
  • 8 oz Tomato Sauce (can use pureed tomatoes)
  • 2 tbsp Chili Powder (adjust to taste)
  • 1 tsp Cumin (optional)
  • 1 tsp Salt (to taste)
  • 1 tsp Pepper (to taste)
  • 1 cup Heavy Cream (for creaminess)
  • 2 tbsp Cocoa Powder (adds depth)

Instructions

  1. In a large pot, heat a splash of oil over medium heat. Add diced onions and bell peppers, stirring occasionally for about 5–7 minutes, until softened and fragrant.
  2. Introduce the ground beef to the pot, breaking it up with a wooden spoon. Cook for 8–10 minutes until the beef is fully browned.
  3. Once the beef is browned, stir in minced garlic and sauté for an additional 1–2 minutes.
  4. Add the diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, chili powder, cumin, salt, and pepper to the pot. Stir well to combine and cook for about 3–5 minutes.
  5. Reduce the heat to low and let your chili simmer uncovered for 30-40 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  6. Before serving, taste your chili and adjust the seasonings if needed. Ladle into bowls and garnish as desired.

Notes

  • Chili can be made ahead and stored in the refrigerator for up to three days.
